WEDDING VIDEOGRAPHER LONDON
- BEST OF 2019 -
What an incredible year 2019 has been! With Christmas and New Year approaching not only it’s the perfect time to celebrate but also a great opportunity for us to reflect on the experiences, challenges and achievements that 2019 has brought.
For us as a couple, this year has been particularly memorable as we started the season by getting married ourselves (twice)! Not only was this an amazing time for us personally but it has also had a huge impact on the way we approach our business too. Being on the other side of the camera and essentially stepping foot in our couples’ shoes to experience the emotions of a wedding day for ourselves, we really gained a whole new appreciation for our craft and the motivations behind what we do. It has since changed how we communicate with our couples before, during and after their wedding, and even how we approach the filming and editing process.
What we have come to realise more than anything is that weddings are not just about the happy couple, but also their family and friends that are there to celebrate with them. It’s one of the few occasions in their lives when their nearest and dearest are all in the same place, and having the opportunity to capture these moments on film is absolutely priceless. This point really hit home this year when several people reached out to us to tell us that someone close to them has sadly passed away and to express their gratitude in that we were able to capture them on film. Work aside, receiving a call like this really puts life into perspective. In this modern world of social media and an increasing pressure to stand out in a competitive field it is very easy to lose sight of the importance of the job we are being hired to do.
We have also made a conscious effort to prioritise our customer service, refining our whole process so that we can deliver an even better experience. It sounds cliché but making our clients happy is the most important thing for us and really drives our business. We are very proud of the fact that almost all of our bookings are from word of mouth referrals and we are extremely grateful to all of our past Brides, Grooms, wedding and event planners, photographers and industry friends that continue to support us.
OK so enough with the business talk! Here are a few ‘fun’ facts which also help to summarise our year:
-In 2019 we filmed 21 amazing weddings. 6 were multi-day events and 85% of bookings were via word of mouth.
-We attended 3 weddings as guests; 2 of which were our own! Yes we got married twice, hey why not?!
-Our busiest months were July and August where we filmed a total of 18 events in 2 months. There were a lot of late nights and cups of coffee needed to keep on top of our editing during that time! But this means we can go into the new year with a clean slate and no backlog.
-Distance wise, the closest wedding was 14 miles from our home, whilst the furthest was 3600 miles – one way!
- We just about survived 1 European heatwave when temperatures reached over 40 degrees celsius on the wedding day; everything apart from the morning preparations was outside in the heat. Filming in those conditions was exhausting but totally worth it!
- Overall we’ve travelled 30,000+ miles for wedding related events this year, and filmed weddings in 5 different countries.
-We’ve filmed for couples from England, Scotland, USA, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, China, Lebanon, and Australia, with many different religious ceremonies and cultural celebrations.
We already can’t wait to see what the year ahead holds for us…
So finally, we wish you all good health, happiness, and prosperity for 2020!
